Pattern Energy is committed to utilizing local partnerships to help build strong and vibrant communities where we operate wind facilities. Acting on this commitment, the Ocotillo Wind Community Benefits Program was established at the Imperial Valley Community Foundation (IVCF) and consists of three grant programs.

  • The Ocotillo Wind Community Fund supports community, health and wellness, education, and youth initiatives in the towns of Ocotillo and No Mirage.
  • The Ocotillo Wind Education Fund will develop and support new and existing programs benefiting education and educational activities in the Imperial Valley.
  • The Ocotillo Wind Imperial Valley (IV) Fund will develop and support new and existing programs that improve the quality of life of Imperial Valley residents and communities.

The Ocotillo Wind Community Fund has a fund advisory committee consisting of Ocotillo and No Mirage residents and a representative from the IVCF. The advisory committee is involved in determining grant cycles, reviewing proposals, and making grant recommendations to the IVCF Board of Directors.

The three funds – the Ocotillo Wind Community Fund, the Ocotillo Wind Education Fund, and the Ocotillo Wind Imperial Valley Fund – have all been established with initial gifts of $500,000 into each Fund, consisting of a $475,000 endowment and a $25,000 contribution earmarked for inaugural grant cycles. The remaining $1.5 million commitment will be gifted equally and annually to the Program’s Funds, ensuring that for the next twenty years there will be at least $75,000 available each year to support local organizations and causes. After Ocotillo Wind’s pledge has been met, grant opportunities will continue to be offered and made possible through earnings and available distributions from each endowment fund.

Grants support capital, operating and special one-time costs for facilities, programs and events. Applications are available on the Imperial Valley Community Foundation website, www.ivcommunityfoundation.org
